Nikole Crowe, from Valley Village, California, is a jewelry designer, and blogs over at: themoptopmaven.com

    Who are your style icons?

Carrie Bradshaw, Kerri Washington, Grace Kelly.

How would you describe your style?

I would describe my style as timeless, and understated. I do like to incorporate trendy items into my wardrobe from time to time, however I usually style them around classic pieces to add more longevity to my wardrobe.

    What inspires you?

I guess an easier question to answer would be, what doesn’t inspire me! Everything inspires me. From nature, and architecture, to art and ancient antiquities. I am a very visual person; I love images that evoke some sort of thought, and emotion.

What’s your favorite item in your wardrobe?

My favorite item in my wardrobe would most likely have to be my Diane Von Furstenberg silk wrap dress. I’ve had it for almost 10 years, and it is still as relevant today as it was then.

How would you describe your blog?

My blog is pretty much an extension of me. It encompasses my love for all things creative, touches on my quest for self-advancement whilst inviting others to come along on the journey with me, and of course, I talk a lot about hair!

What have you been wearing this this summer?

MORE tribal prints, shorts with a nice scalloped edge, vintage floppy hats, vintage pin-up swimsuits, vintage rompers and high waist shorts.

It’s Mallory from Where the Lovely Things Are again with some handmade picks.

Today I’ve found a few creations that’ll turn your jewelry box into a little zoo! With a fox and a snake on your fingers, a rabbit and a bird running away from a fox on your neck, and a pair of armadillos snorting around your ears you’ll be rocking a menagerie of awesome creatures!

Or maybe it’s best to just wear one at a time, it’s up to you of course – a Noah’s ark look would be pretty sweet.

Maria Confer, 29, lives in Michigan and is a full time blogger and vintage seller. She blogs over at: lululetty.blogspot.com

    Who are your style icons?

Everyone names them, but I do adore Alexa Chung and Zooey Deschanel. Big influences for me are also Katharine Hepburn and Diane Keaton’s movie characters in Annie Hall, Baby Boom and Manhattan Murder Mystery.

How would you describe your style?

Modern and vintage American classics with a dash of menswear.

    What inspires you?

Music, movie characters, books, England, my mom, and other fashion bloggers.

What’s your favorite item in your wardrobe?

Hardest question, but I would have to say my great grandmother’s fur. It has her initial in the lining. I’ll never part with it.

How would you describe your blog?

My blog is glimpse of my ever changing sartorial moods. It’s about attainable (wearable) fashion with a hint of risk. It also shows bits of my life with my amazing husband, Cole, and two crazy dogs, Wellington and Pipin.

What are/have been your fashion plans for this summer?

I’ve been on the hunt for vintage lace blouses, anything 90s’ and floral, some tough kick arse boots, a felt floppy hat, the perfect high waist denim shorts, and platform clogs – all of which I can transition into fall.

1 Floral Mesh Dress $84.00 Paper Tiger @ pixiemarket.com 2 Wheatgrass Top $52.99 There’s No Lace Like Home Top $49.99 both modcloth.com 3 Slip in Super High Clogs $219.00 swedishhasbeens.com Slip On Clogs $280.00 AUD shakuhachi.net 4 Vintage Burgundy Felt Hat $29.00 creativegatherings.etsy.com 5 Vintage Black Leather Boots $88.00 santokivintage.etsy.com

    Local Shopping Secrets:

The Salvation Army is my local go-to shop. I live in a very rural area, so we don’t have much in the way of fashion. In Royal Oak, MI (which is where I grew up and my parents still live) I always hit up Lost and Found Vintage.

    Online Shopping Secrets:

I can’t go a day without checking ModCloth’s new arrivals. I also stalk several Etsy and eBay shops. I’m all about finding vintage on the cheap.

    N.E.E.T. Handmade: Scarves

    Wednesday 11 August, 2010

    By:

Hello, hello. It’s Mallory from Where the Lovely Things Are and for today’s handmade finds I’ve searched Etsy for the loveliest scarves.

Where I live (in the US, Maine specifically) it’s starting to cool down a bit and I’m psyched. There’s nothing that makes me more miserable than being all hot and sweaty: I am not a summer girl. In celebration of cooler weather’s arrival, I’m starting to dig out my flats, light jackets & scarves. Man oh man do I love scarves! A better accessory has never been invented. Below you’ll find some of my favorite light-weigh handmade scarves: they’re all suitable to wear now (on a non-sweltering day, of course) and when fall officially arrives. Transitional accessories! So very useful.

1.) The Wanderer Sheer Cotton Scarf $62.00 Scout & Catalogue 2.) Sunny Day Summer Scarf $28.00 Leah Duncan 3.) Purple Jellyfish Scarf $23.00 Slow Loris 4.)
