Erin Hagstrom, 28, from Oakland, CA, USA is a fulltime blogger at calivintage.com and also a full-time blog writer at ModCloth – and runs and maintains the ModCloth Tumblr as well!

We think she’s N.E.E.T. because of: her supercute crop and love of vintage!

    Erin Hagstrom Calivintage

What’s the meaning behind your blog’s name?

It’s pretty straightforward: I’m a California native and I love everything vintage! It actually started as “California Vintage” way back when, but then I ended up abbreviating it and squeezing it all together over time.

How would you describe your style?

I create vintage-inspired looks with a modern sensibility, but the influences change. Lately I’ve been on a bit of a bag lady kick, and I’m really getting into the 70s trend as well!

    Erin Hagstrom Calivintage

    What inspires you?

I’m obsessed with following fashion, both from the big design houses and from smaller, independent designers. And I’m also obviously very inspired by vintage. Either hunting for vintage in shops, or watching old movies.

Your favorite item in your wardrobe?

A simple chambray work shirt. For me, it’s what I pair with jeans and bright red lipstick on those lazy days when I’m feeling less than creative. It may be simple, but it always does the trick!

How would you describe your blog?

It’s a personal style blog (along with a companion Tumblr) where I document most of my outfits, and a place for me to collect all of my favorite inspirations from designer collections to my favorite outfits seen on style blogs.

    Erin Hagstrom Calivintage

What are your spring fashion plans?

This is going to be the spring/summer of “flatforms” for me. I love to wear heels, but they can be hard on my feet, so I’m happy to see so many cool wedges that aren’t very steep! The nautical theme is one that I will forever love for spring! I’ve got my eye on this particular Rachel Antonoff dress. I always like to play around with different eras in fashion, and I’m having a lot of fun playing around with the 70s trend right now – I’m particularly loving high rise flared denim and midi skirts! Straw hats are always essential in the warmer months. Last year, I went for cute boaters, but this year I’m going for a wider brim. Glasses – I have terrible vision, but I usually wear contact lenses. This spring, I hope to pick up some really cute, nerdy frames to give my eyes a rest! And a new bike! This year, I’m looking forward to getting a cute cruiser for around town from a local company called Public Bikes. I love this 3 speed mixte style frame because I can ride it while wearing a skirt!

My favorite vintage shop is Pretty Penny here in Oakland, and my favorite independent boutique is Conifer across the bay in San Francisco.

Beth Jones, 30, is a fulltime fashion blogger in Orange County, CA. She blogs over at: bjonesstyle.wordpress.com

We think she’s N.E.E.T. because of: her love of color and pattern, her style icon is Carrie Bradshaw, and we featured her in N.E.E.T. way back in 2007 – and she’s still working it!

    Beth Jones Style

What’s the meaning behind your blog’s name?

I used to have the fashion blog, The Vintage Society.. it started with the idea to eventually open a store with that name. Over the years, things changed a lot and I started working as a stylist and fashion editor and I felt I need to re-brand myself and my blog. B. Jones Style is my brand with my name in it. It is about my style and how that effects every nook and cranny of my life: fashion, home, travel and shopping.

    Your style icons?

Recently, I have been really inspired by Diane Keaton during the 70s and 80s. I love people who go all out like Catherine Baba or Iris Apfel. My all time icon is Carrie Bradshaw… till the day I die!

    Beth Jones Style

How would you describe your style?

    Vintage-Inspired, Eclectic, Dram-glam.

    What inspires you?

I’ve been really inspired by movie/tv characters lately: Annie Hall, Play it Again Sam, SATC, Clueless, Mary Tyler Moore Show, etc. I am also inspired by vintage pieces – I love buying something unique and then letting that inspire an outfit.

    Beth Jones Style

Your favorite item in your wardrobe?

High waist trousers. I wear them all the time and make the layered up and simple.. any season and always classic. Love them.

    Beth Jones Style

How would you describe your blog?

Very much me! It is about my style and how the effects my fashion sense, my home decor and how I shop. I thrift and vintage shop a lot… mainly because I love the hunt and I love pulling off the “runway looks” without breaking the bank. I am every day kinda girl who loves bringing glamour into every aspect of life. I believe women should dress up and have fun even if their life consists of errand running, dinner dates, and just the regular ‘ole stuff.

What are your fashion plans for this spring?

Prada-esque stripes on anything, coveralls, big flashy earrings, wide leg high waist pants, gold paired with a bohemian piece, and big florals.

    Local Shopping Secrets:

I do shopping features on my site which showcase my favorites places to shop, so here are a few: Crossroads Trading Co. (for designer pieces at low prices), Elsewhere Vintage (amazing vintage), and MaCalistaire Vintage (gypsy vintage).

    Online Shopping Secrets:

I buy a lot on Etsy but not neccessarily from one shop. I love to shop for the trends that I am looking for, like shopping for key words such as “wide stripes”, “big florals”, etc.

    N.E.E.T. Bloggers: Lydia Okello

    Thursday 16 September, 2010

    By: N.E.E.T. Editor

    Lydia Okello StyleisStyle

Lydia Okello, 21, from Vancouver, Canada, is currently a barista at Starbucks, but is starting a Fashion Merchandising program in November, so hopefully won’t be a Barista forever! She blogs over at: styleisstyle.blogspot.com

    Lydia Okello StyleisStyle

    Who are your style icons?

Where do I start? I will never get enough of late 50s/early 60s housewife, debutante goodness. I know that the 1950s come and go as far as trends go, but to me there is nothing better. So so many bloggers inspire me! Some of my favourites who are “iconic” to me are CaliVintage, The Clotheshorse, Mitzi Cocoa, Taghrid, Kristin Gisors, and Hannah of Hannah and Landon. As far as celebrities goes, I really like Chloë Sevigny and Zooey Deschanel’s style. Chloe has a fearlessness that is unparalleled, and Zooey has a panache for vintagey looks that are too good to resist. I love the music and style of Florence and the Machine and La Roux. Florence truly is dreamlike vision come to life, all romantic and mystical (in the least costume-y way), and La Roux has effortless, androgynous cool, of which I am very jealous.

    Lydia Okello StyleisStyle

How would you describe your style?

My style is first and foremost girly. I love anything frilly and feminine, and I wear pants all of 10 times a year (on average). I think my style is best described as feminine, vintage inspired whimsy.

    What inspires you?

Anything vintage always gets me going. There is something about “the good olden days” that gets me going. There are so many blogs that I read (my Google Reader is a out of control), so I’m inspired daily by bloggers from around the world. I’m also a bit of a magazine junkie, Lula Magazine is hands down my favourite. You’ll never be disappointed by an issue of Lula! Other than that, I’m inspired by random ordinary things, and my friends and family.

    Lydia Okello StyleisStyle

What’s your favourite item in your wardrobe?

It is very, very difficult to choose one item, but I would have to say my thrifted tulle skirt is one of my very favourite finds. It’s the perfect amount of sweetness, and I had been searching for one for so long that when I finally found it, I was ecstatic! I also love my navy wool cape, also from a thrift store. I’m currently love my self made leopard print turban headband. It was crafted from a 50¢ tank top, and now it’s an indispensible bad hair day staple!

How would you describe your blog?

An outfit heavy photo blog, with snippets from my daily life. I try to write a little something with every post. I also post lots of editorials and images that I find visually arresting and inspiring, as well as other bloggers who inspire me.

    Lydia Okello StyleisStyle

What are your fashion plans for this fall?

This fall I’m craving chunky knit sweaters and scarves, anything in a bitter shade of mustard, lots of capes, stacked oxford heels, gravity defying platforms and leopard print. All things leopard print are looking deliciously tacky and awesome to me lately!

    Lydia Okello StyleisStyle

    Lydia Okello StyleisStyle

    Local Shopping Secrets:

I’ve just moved from a smaller city (Abbotsford, BC) to a major city – Vancouver, BC. I haven’t done tons of shopping, but I really like USED on Granville Street and Front and Company on Main Street. The first is a really great vintage shop, with decent (read: not stratospheric) prices, and the second is a well laid out consignment store with a great selection of new, vintage and consigned clothing.

    Online Shopping Secrets:

Modcloth!!! I know they’ve been growing in popularity, and with good reason. They carry amazing pieces, and who doesn’t love store updates every day?!? I also really like Ramona West Vintage for reconstructed vintage that looks deliciously modern (without losing its retro charm). As far as Etsy goes, I like to drool over Gardens of Whimsy‘s amazing collection of floral adornments. There are some beautiful pieces over at My Loved One and Lisa Zain kills me with their array of exquisite vintage shoes.

    The Versicle Indonesia Fashion

“Marla Singer”, 21, from Indonesia, is a university student and stylist/shopkeeper in a local clothing company and blogs over at: theversicle.com

    Who are your style icons?

I’m very inspired by Chloë Sevigny and Zooey Deschanel. Both of them have adorable styles without looking oh-so-trendy or too ordinary either. They’re just so unique in their way. At the moment, I love Charlotte Gainsbourg because she is a beautiful French lady that can pull off masculine look in amazing way. I also adore Natasha Khan from Bat For Lashes because of her breath-taking style and she stands out of the rest musicians nowadays.

    The Versicle Indonesia Fashion

How would you describe your style?

It’s a bit hard to explain. I’m crazy about vintage stuff but I love to rework it in my outfits in a modern way. I love all kinds of clothes and mixing styles, depending on my mood board and my current inspirations. Monochrome, matching colors, and layering are the keys of my outfits. I barely wear jewelry, but I’m a hats and scarves junkie. I also combine socks with everything. When I dress up, I love to get into a character, with my signature style and I just wear my heart on my sleeve.

    The Versicle Indonesia Fashion

    What inspires you?

Ummm.. basically everything! From music, movies, books, or random things. I love vintage eras from 1950s to 1980s because each era has their own uniqueness. I take every little essence of the eras and bring them into my outfits. Browsing fashion blogs or street style blogs is also one of my favorite ways to get inspired. Everyone has their own fashion taste which is essentially down to their individual sense of style and it’s very interesting to get inspirations from real people. I enjoy flipping through fashion magazine pages. While imagining those unaffordable clothes, I try to integrate little essences of those editorials to incorporate what’s in Vogue into my wardrobe in a way that expresses my personality.

    The Versicle Indonesia Fashion

Your favorite item in your wardrobe?

Definitely my leather jacket! It’s my timeless wardrobe staple for every occasion and every style. I’d love to buy a leather jacket every week if I had unlimited shopping budget!

    The Versicle Indonesia Fashion

How would you describe your blog?

Well, as a little kid from nowhere on earth, I find the internet builds tremendous connections between me and people around the universe on the same page. My passion for fashion, inspiration, favorite things, thoughts, and little stories of my life are the reasons I created a blog, rather than just to show what I’m wearing today. I put fashion as a form of creativity – how a person dresses and acts with the clothes through the freedom, passion, difference and style, it becomes the art of individuals. It’s more personal than the fashion community websites (like Lookbook.nu and Chictopia) that I belong to.

    The Versicle Indonesia Fashion

What are your fashion plans for this summer?

A boater hat (I’ve been looking for this for ages!), brown chunky wedges (should be comfy ones), a summer trench in khaki/pastel color, sheer patterned tights, a floral romper, and leather shorts!

    The Versicle Indonesia Fashion

    1 Wildflower Romper $48.00 Lahaina Floral Romper $44.oo both shopnastygal.com 2 Vintage Burgundy Leather Shorts $55.00 Vintage Black Leather Shorts $65.00 both persephonevintage.etsy.com 3 Vintage Straw Boater Hat $15.00 jessicashiu.etsy.com 4 Olivia Raincoat $248.00 lilyandjae.com 5 Snick Stud Wedges $119.95 Jeffrey Campbell @ solestruck.com

Anni Jürgenson, 14, lives in Estonia and is a student – she blogs over at: stylehurricane.blogspot.com

    Who are your style icons?

My favorite era is probably the 1960s but I adore 50s’ swimwear! Highwaist bikini bottoms, swimsuits with floral patterns and all that kind of thing. I don’t follow celebrity style, but I adore the style of fashion editors like Kate Lanphear and Anna Dello Russo.

    Anni Jürgenson Stylehurricane

    Anni Jürgenson Stylehurricane

How would you describe your style?

Usually minimalistic. I have loads of accessories and jewelry but I never wear them… I even don’t know why. And my style isn’t very girly.. rather like boyish.

    What inspires you?

Music, other blogs, tons of photos and looking at Tumblr blogs every day, books, movies and of course – magazines.

What’s your favorite item in your wardrobe?

My simple khaki high waist shorts, I wear them way too often!

How would you describe your blog?

It shows the fashionable side of my life.

What are your fashion plans for this summer?

On the top of my wishlist are new denim shorts, a feather headdress/headband, some maxi dresses, a big knuckle ring with an amethyst cluster, leather t-shirt à la Céline (I know it’s probably not the best choice for summer but maybe for colder weather) and a hat which looks like a turban… I have no idea where I can find something like this.. I should try Ebay – as always!

    Local Shopping Secrets:

For Estonian fashion design check out NuNordik and for vintage, Morš.

    Online Shopping Secrets:

I really like these two Etsy shops – mrd74.etsy.com and billyblue22.etsy.com – both sell handmade metal wildlife inspired jewelry. For vintage, I’ve always liked Nasty Gal, and though I can’t afford anything there, my all time favorite online shop is Bonadrag!
